ThiefWare.com denounces the parasitic use of
Web sites to display ads. With that said, I want to applaud another company that uses an
eZula TopText method and a method similar to Gator and WhenU (the underlining of keywords
and the contextual targeting of graphic ads).
What! You are probably thinking I've flipped my lid. The main difference is that this
company actually gets permission from the Web site owners to use their sites to generate
contextual ads. And, the site owner actually gets a cut of the ad revenue. Take note
Gator, WhenU, 180Solutions, eZula this is how contextual ads are done the right way,
the ethical ad way.
You probably want to know what company is doing this. It's none other than IntelliTXT from Vibrant Media. Web
publishers can get more information
and sign up [here]
and advertisers can see
about it [here].
When advertisement companies do it right, they get rewarded with
positive reviews (take note ThiefWare companies).
ThiefWare.com has never been against contextual ads, but against ThiefWare type
contextual ads. Also, adware can be used in good ways when the ads do not leech from
targeted Web sites or claim referral credits in place of the originating affiliates. When
adware acts as a parasite of Web sites, that's when adware becomes ThiefWare.
I'm sure there are a few other companies that also run similar systems like IntelliTXT.
We'd like to know about them.
Advertising can be a good thing when done tastefully and not obtrusively in your face
type ads. After all, much of the free information computer surfers enjoy is ad supported.
ThiefWare type ads do nothing to support the Web sites that they are displayed in
connection with. IntelliTXT is
changing that.
